One year on
I started this because I enjoyed reading Andy’s blog so much that I made the facile error of assuming that these things are as enjoyable to write as to read.
They’re not; they offer a completely different set of pleasures to the author, as I suspect my old mate Paul is finding. He’s started with a fine piece of Beckham, gladiators, and the Harlem Globetrotters. I like the look of the thing too. You’ll have to ask him why he’s called it mother, though, as I’m certainly not going to broach the subject.
Meanwhile, Andy is celebrating a year of Prandial, which handily doubles up as a sort of quick archive. Worth checking out.

Isn’t Mother the name of the ship’s computer in the first Alien film? That still doesn’t explain why Paul’s blog is called Mother, I suppose, unless he intends it to act as an intelligent hub with its sensory tentacles all over the place. Maybe Paul would like to tell us himself?

Bang on the button Andrew
I explained it about halfway through an excursion around Superman vs. Al Qaeda that I posted today. Not only the Nostromo’s computer, but indeed the central focus for whatever I’m doing, eventually linking in to other projects. I wanted to skin the blog in a similar green-screen 1970’s computer terminal stylee….. but it’s a work-in-progress and I’m slow at the best of times. I’m still impressed that you managed to guess both the inspirations so quickly though, I must either be easier to read than I thought, or great minds think alike
