Post 400
In which:
- We note that the latest issue of Wired magazine is themed around notorious existential explorer, Philip K. Dick
- We anticipate with glee two very important new books arriving in the post:
- Volume Two of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s outrageously playful League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
- Andy’s long-awaited print version of his Barcelona column, Barcabook
- We raise our glass and sing victory songs to Paul, who spent half of last night fixing my PC such that I now have working broadband, and the other half watching Quatermass films

Speaking of Philip K. Dick, a slow-witted academic friend of mine got on the wrong side of his employer when he used his work computer to look up a PKD story called ‘The Blue Boy’. He made the mistake of entering ‘blue boy dick’ into Google as a search string, and some of what came back was enough to make his (or anyone else’s) toes curl.
And — tangentially connected to the foregoing paragraph — the email parser at the Met seems to be a surprisingly blunt instrument. We are no longer able to communicate with anyone who has an address in Essex or Scunthorpe. Back to the paper and ink, then.
