‘Ere we go

We woke up on Saturday to a world gone white. Fortunately, it isn’t very deep; it took the forecasters by surprise so we don’t really know what to expect. It’s very cold — still down to minus four at 9 this morning. Well, we have been very lucky so far. Meanwhile, some rather better news is that the Collections Book exists, and piles of them have been delivered to the library. I hope to pick one up later today.

Fantastic news re. Collection book. Bad news re. Weather heavy snows forecast for Thursday. I hope the heating is now behaving itself?

Heating … sometimes. There was a sort of explosion today — I went round the house looking for broken glass because that’s what it sounded like, but all seems to be well, so it must have been the tubes. The Prof remarked lightly to our plumbers, following a conversation with the insurers, ho, ho, ho, d’you know, since we asked you to lag the pipe connecting the external[(your idea] boiler, and you haven’t, if the pipes freeze, ho ho, ho, our redress is to sue you? Wee Craig was round within the half hour. The high pressure syndrome remains yet to be addressed.

I think publication date is the 14th, and it’s Manchester University Press.
