Progress
It’s been a very nice day, after a lot of rain and general unpleasantness. We spent much of it distributing another 5 lt of paint over the garden wall: we couldn’t finish the job because there had been a comedy of errors with the ironmonger, since he said he could get some more of the stuff, sort of didn’t because he got confused, then the order was confirmed, that in turn seems somehow to have got confused because he couldn’t quite remember how much we’d ordered, and what is even more confusing is that on the one hand weather has been totally unsuitable for exterior painting and on the other, we have been infernally busy so ‘if not on Friday then next Tuesday’ is now 10 days ago and he’s forgotten what he promised. And so on. Miss Kit, I am sorry to say, acquired some white patches. I combed these out once they were dry in case she ingested the paint and she bit me, though I think she has now forgotten. I’ve also been weeding. I’m appalled by how much ground elder there is. The trouble is you get so used to seeing the wretched stuff you can get to not seeing it, which is fatal.
