The Deep North

We frequently have cause to reflect that we are lucky in our friends: the most recent of the many who have provoked this thought is the Lady Palaeographer, who greeted the incipient going back of the clocks by sending us some real Italian torrone (qualita e tradizione dal 1860) in a nice old-fashioned box, which is flavoured with limoni di Sicilia; as she says, an edible sunshine substitute. Winters hereabouts can be just a little draining; it was a lovely thought.
