Relief all round
Miss Kit was getting no better, and worryingly, becoming very withdrawn and not eating. So it was back to the vet this morning: she got her revenge in by peeing copiously all over my lap in the car. The vet checked her over once more and agreed with me that the most rational explanation was that she had a very sore throat — that she had, or had recently had, something stuck in it, hence the gagging, not wanting to eat, and all the rest. We booked her provisionally in for an x-ray for Monday, but meanwhile, the vet injected her with an anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling. She cheered up almost immediately, and within a couple of hours, was back to her normal self, interactive, sociable, bouncing about, climbing on the computer. It’s possible that there’s something still stuck in there, but on the face of things, it seems more likely that the problem was residual swelling repeatedly irritated by hacking, retching, swallowing and so forth. She’s certainly acting as if she’d forgotten all about it.
